Principal's Message

Dear Island View Families:

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year because it prompts me to stop and reflect on the many gifts and blessings that abound. To celebrate this season, our PTA created “Gratitude Graffiti” bulletin boards around the school for students and staff to record their thanksgiving thoughts. Below is a small sampling of these inspiring reflections.

I am grateful for—

  • (many teacher names were written)
  • good friends
  • hamburgers and cheese sticks (a post-lunch entry? J)
  • my new baby brother
  • my family (a popular entry)
  • the Navy
  • my life

I truly appreciate the voices of our kids, for they are simple but poignantly honest. As I read each of their entries, I realized so many of them boil down to one truth: human connection is what we value most. Our teachers, our friends, our families. People bring joy and create meaning—your students understand that truth because they experience its power every day.

So thank you. While I cannot surpass the simple beauty of student voices, please know I am thankful to be part of this school community. Our staff, our kids and families, our PTA and parent partnerships make Island View a very special school. For that, I am profoundly grateful.

I hope you enjoyed a warm and reflective Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family.
